About us
Updated
We’re a small, independent site that helps ordinary UK households get ready for a few days of disruption, without turning it into a hobby. Sensible Prepping UK is run by Sciuridae Labs Ltd.
We’re not the government, and we’re not connected to it. We follow the government’s Be Ready advice, link to it, and add our practical take. Where a number is our own suggestion rather than official advice, we say so on the page.
How we choose products
We recommend one thing per job, and a cheaper option if there’s a good one. We look for:
- recognisable brands, UK ones where a good one exists
- thousands of reviews rather than dozens
- something that does exactly the Be Ready job, and nothing “tactical”
- torches and radios that take AA or AAA batteries, so the spares fit both
Nobody pays to be listed, and nobody sees our picks before they go up.
Generators, power stations, freeze-dried “25-year” food and ready-made grab bags aren’t on the list. You don’t need them for 3 days at home. If you want one anyway, that’s your hobby, not your emergency kit.
How we make money
Some links on our kit pages and articles go to Amazon. They’re marked “Ad”. If you buy something through one, Amazon pays us a small share of the sale. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, and it doesn’t change what we recommend. The calculator, the checklist and the safety advice never have links.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
